THE CAMPAIGN

In 2010 the British lawyer Polly Higgins presented a legal defenition of ecocide. It was the beginning of an international campaign to define ecocide as a crime and add it to the Rome Statute, so it becomes a prosecutable act for the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, the Netherlands. ABOUT US

The Letterteken Foundation facilitates graphic projects in a social context, such as ‘Ecocide is a crime’. This art project is initiated and developed by type designer Sander Neijnens and illustrator Ivo van Leeuwen, both living and working in Tilburg, the Netherlands. The aim of the project is to create a tool for people to show their commitment to the ecosystem and to support the campaign to make ecocide a crime. The project is guided by Jos Wilbrink and Annette Paulsen and made possible by the Symbio Foundation.
